Fired Page 2
Just when I felt the first stirrings of my climax, his fingers slowly withdrew and he pressed one last kiss to my throbbing skin. I took a deep, shuddering breath as he slithered up the length of my body and settled himself between my thighs. I could feel the head of his cock pressed against the entrance to my sex, and I groaned and started to thrust my hips forward but again he held me still.
“I’m yours, Regina,” he whispered, his blue eyes fierce and burning as he held my gaze. But there was something vulnerable in it, an admission that required no answer, only acceptance. And as his eyes held mine, he slid himself inside me so slowly I thought I would die for want of him.
When the whole length of him was buried in me, I gasped and wrapped my legs around him, locking him in place. “And I’m yours,” I whispered, because it was absolutely true. It made me feel small and a little frightened - to say aloud that I was willing to give myself completely to this amazing man who I’d only really known a few short hours. But he was everything I’d ever wanted, and I couldn’t pretend aloofness. I wanted him, wanted his dashing smile and his rumbling laugh and his hard, lean body pressed against mine.
I got all three, and my head spun as he overloaded my senses with another blistering kiss. And then he was moving, thrusting gently at first as my throbbing cunt adjusted to the size of him. But it was as if our bodies were made to fit together, and we were both too hungry for each other to be gentle. His thrusts came faster, and I matched his rhythm and pumped my hips up to meet every stroke. I realized I was calling out his name, encouraging him to new heights and begging him to make me come, and he growled and sucked hard at my throat as he pounded into me harder and harder, our bodies reaching a frenzied point.
Then my vision went white, and waves of pleasure broke across my body as I shrieked and clutched at Richard’s shoulders. He gave his own hoarse cry, my pussy clamping down hard on his cock and pushing him over the edge as he sank himself to the hilt and spilled himself inside me.
We finally stilled, both of us panting and exhausted. He groaned and slid around to his back, curling me against his side and snuggling me close to him.
“God, I’ve been wanting to do that for half a year,” he laughed, the pad of his thumb skimming across my cheek. “I can’t even tell you,” he said, swallowing and trying to catch his breath. “I probably shouldn’t tell you,” he added with a laugh, “but I can’t seem to stop myself around you. You’re the reason I was even interested in buying that bloody company,” he said, dropping his gaze as if embarrassed to even admit it.
My mouth fell open. “Are you serious?” I said, shocked to hear something so unbelievable.
His face flushed, and I was astounded to see that he was actually self-conscious around me. “I took that first meeting as a favor to a colleague, but when I saw you I knew I had to come back. Look, I’m good at business but I’ve never been very good at… well, talking to people,” he said with a shrug. “You were the first woman I’d met in a long time who’d just talk to me, like I was a person and not this untouchable creature from another plane of existence. You didn’t want anything from me, and each time we spoke I felt as if I knew you a little bit better. And I wanted to know you even more,” he breathed, touching his forehead to mine for a moment before anxiously looking into my face. “I’m trying very hard not to sound creepy, but I know I’m not doing a very good job of it,” he chuckled. “I don’t know how else to say it. I’ve been drawn to you, Regina. I’m absolutely mad about you. I didn’t know what else to do.”
As impossible as it was to believe, the truth of it was written plain as day across his beautiful face. I lifted my hands to trace the curve of his lip, trying to get my heart to stop pounding so I could think for a moment. But it wouldn’t, and I suddenly realized that I didn’t want to think about this until I convinced myself it wasn’t true. I wanted it to be true. I wanted him.
I smoothed my palms down the hard planes of his chest and shook my head. “You could have said something, Richard,” I drawled, a teasing smile touching one corner of my mouth. “You didn’t have to buy a damned company to get me to go out with you.”
His gaze nervously searched my face until he found the smile tucked away, and then he heaved a sigh of relief as his bright grin burst across his lips. With a triumphant laugh he pulled me back into his arms. His lips found mine again and it was another moment before we fell apart, breathless and giddy.
“Well,” he said, the playful light returning to his eyes, “since you’ve no plans for the rest of the week, I suppose there’s only one thing left to do. Do you still carry that depressingly blank passport with you everywhere you go?”
I scoffed at him, blushing as I remembered that I’d shown it to him once. He’d asked me why I carried around a passport I’d never used, and I’d told him that I liked to be prepared for surprises. “Don’t be mean,” I teased.
He could tell by my reaction that the answer was yes, and his grin got somehow brighter. “In that case, you should really decide which museum you’d like to see first, my dear. My plane leaves for Europe in a few hours.”
I stared up at him, unable to comprehend what he was saying. This beautiful, brilliant man that I’d been secretly fantasizing about for months had just confessed that he was crazy about me, and then offered to make my most cherished dreams come true. My hands shook as I pulled him down for a soft, careful kiss.
“Our plane, dear,” I whispered, and was rewarded with his delighted laughter.
